What's the REAL future of AI?

Here's something that might surprise you — many are starting to question if AI is really progressing or just hitting a plateau. So, /u/JustRaphiGaming points out that with early updates, you’d see clear improvements, new features, but now? Not so much. It feels like big models like ChatGPT haven't changed much, still battling the same flaws. Now, here’s where it gets interesting — there's a ton of hype about AI hitting superintelligence by 2030, but others believe we’re hitting the limits of what large language models can actually do. According to some experts, like those at Google DeepMind, solving issues like small context windows might be possible, but will LLMs ever grow into true AI? Or are they destined to stay helpful but limited tools? As /u/JustRaphiGaming suggests, maybe the real future is just making these models more efficient, helping us at work, but never becoming fully autonomous. So, what’s the real deal? Honestly, no one knows for sure — but that uncertainty is what makes this whole AI story so fascinating.

Guys im kinda confused with AI right now. In the beginning of the whole thing with every update you could actually notice some improvements or actually new features. Now when there is a new update for let's say Gemini or ChatGPT there is literally nothing different. It still has the same flaws and problems. Also im kinda trying to figure out what is really a realistic picture of our future with AI. Since there are very extreme opinions on the topic in the Internet from "AGI will be here in 2030 and we can not imagine what's coming" to "LLMs are a dead end road bigger models aren't producing better work anymore we basically have nothing and there is no real AI". I really would love to hear some realistic balanced opinions on this topic without the hype just some raw opinions on it. Its also okay if the answer would be we just can't tell. I mean there are things like Titans/MIRAS from Google Deepmind that could solve some problems like the small context windows and synthetic data could also be a thing but is there even a possibility that an LLM will develop into something bigger like an actual AI or is it clear to say it will improve but there are fundamental borders that it will never stop and all they will do from there on is to make it more efficient and it will stay in that state as an helpful companion at work. Would love to hear your opinions also sorry for the bad English its not my mother tongue.
